WebTech Packaging was started in 1999 and services a wide range of industries such as Cosmetics, Beverages, and I.M.F.L. companies to name a few. An established package printing company in New Delhi, WebTech started its business in the offset category with a Heidelberg press. Originally, working in a company which deals into conversion of printed cartons flexible packaging material, it was a challenging transition at that time for Mr. Sunil Tangri to move his job to start this company, but having a sound understanding of the trade coupled with finding a market niche and developing expertise in that segment is what he believes is the core strength of WebTech’s success.

Whatever is the market; today the main challenges lie in efficient deliveries and prompt customer service as many consumer brands are using limited special offers and short-term marketing initiatives, which drives label and packaging manufacturers to look for alternative production methods. With core expertise in offering the best print quality in offset, recently WebTech bought its first brand new Mark Andy 2200 press. “We used to print high quality labels on offset, however with time, market trends are evolving rapidly and a lot of value addition is taking place, which makes it essential for printers to have an infrastructure that supports special applications. Naturally, it was time to upgrade ourselves from our offline operations to inline that would enhance the quality of our outputs as well as match the short delivery periods offered as a greater number of customers today work with zero stock. It was natural for us to shift our focus to Flexo. Naturally, we were looking at all options available including a Mark Andy,” says Mr. Tangri.

While initially Mr. Tangri discussed his requirements with a few others, he was not convinced that it would suit his requirements. However, looking into the features of the Mark Andy 2200 Mr. Tangri’s interest grew and it was soon clear that this press would be the product of the future for his company. “After thorough consideration, we invested in the proven Mark Andy 2200 press, as I wanted a press that would be able to convert not only high quality labels but at the same time a very simple label. While currently available machines can do quality beer labels but to convert High quality labels for the spirits sector, it poses a problem. But with my 13” Mark Andy 2200, I am confident that they can do both kind of stuff as well as we can also start working on cosmetic labels,” continues Mr. Tangri.

“Prompt customer service is not the buzzword only in the case of our service industry but equally true with other industries too,” points out Sunil. “We selected Mark Andy not only because of their worldwide leadership position in the label printing industry, but because of the sales effort by Flexo Image Graphics who were really serious about their work and helped me in deciding the press which best suits my requirements. Having future plans clearly chalked out in tough competition times and uncertain market conditions is certainly not an easy task. But Sunil Tangri feels “Competition is a threat, but it brings the best out of everybody in terms of innovation and competitiveness as well as motivates you to accelerate your strength to do great. The Mark Andy 2200 is vital to achieving our goals of increased quality, performance, and flexibility in today's competitive world. The new press will not only allow us to improve our quality and productivity, but I am confident that this press will play a pivotal role in our growth by moving nimbly into niche sectors where it can really add value as is required by the most discerning brand manager. We now look forward to implementing this new machine which will certainly increase our productivity.”

With its future focus set on the cosmetics, beer and liquor markets, WebTech will continue to seek out and integrate some of the best converting talent around. With the first press being installed immediately after the India Label Show, WebTech has already started planning its next machine to be added somewhere in August or September next year. “Competition is way of life and we survived as well as most of the existing players. When the market is growing there are no issues. And right now there are clear signs that overall market is growing bigger especially in the field of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, spirits, etc. added with the retail boom. And the market is growing really fast,” concluded Mr. Tangri.
