Leading narrow web press manufacturer, Mark Andy, took top honours in the Equipment Category at the prestigious FlexoTech International Print & Innovation Awards ceremony in London recently. The winning entry was the Mark Andy ProLED, a UV LED curing solution developed in cooperation with Flint Inks and Phoseon Technology, and now available for fitment to new and existing Mark Andy presses.

The Judges criteria for this category were stated as: ‘clear innovation, not merely an evolution of existing technology, and available to the majority of the market at affordable prices, by bringing a new approach to an existing technique.’

Reading the Judges’ citation for the winning entry, Awards’ presenter Fred MaCauley said: “The winning entry moves the game on in terms of efficiency, offering reduced running costs, improved reliability, lower waste levels and a reduced carbon footprint, as well as providing an improved working environment for the operator.”

Mark Andy’s Director of International Sales, Mike Russell, and European Sales Director, Tom Cavalco, receive the 2013 Equipment Innovation Award from, Comedian and Compère Fred MacAuley, and FlexoTech’s Debbie Bridgland.

Accepting the award on behalf of Mark Andy were international sales director, Mike Russell, and European sales director, Tom Cavalco, who commented: “Mark Andy is proud to be acknowledged as a technology leader in the market, and this is being reflected in machine sales, with 2013 heading towards a record year for the company in Europe.”

The 2013 FlexoTech Award is the fifth innovation win by Mark Andy in recent years. In 2011 it captured the same FlexoTech Award with its P3 Performance Series flexo press, as well as the FTA Technical Innovation Award for the unique Performance Series press design. In 2013 it was again awarded the FTA Award for its Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) in-line converting system, and at the recent Labelexpo in Brussels it scored with ProLED.
